"Every day I come by your house and I pick you up. And we go out. We have a few drinks, and a few laughs, and it's great. But you know what the best part of my day is? For about ten seconds, from when I pull up to the curb and when I get to your door, 'cause I think, maybe I'll get up there and I'll knock on the door and you won't be there. No goodbye. No see you later. No nothing. You just left. I don't know much, but I know that. "
Consider the paradox of Will Hunting--a mathematical genius with a photographic memory working as a janitor and construction laborer. Why? And when he's presented with new opportunities, to work with Professor Lambeau confronting and composing "exciting" mathematical theory at MIT, or as a code breaker with the National Security Agency, among others, what does he choose to do and why? How did his background, his personal goals, his disposition, and his self awareness play a role in his decision?
While you might not share similar specific circumstances with Will (an orphaned abuse victim with a photographic memory from South Boston), you're faced with a similar general opportunity (and, for some of you, dilemma): the OPTIONS program will afford you the opportunity to embark on an internship in which you get to explore a passion. It will be both exciting and uncomfortable at times, as you'll have to leave behind the certainty and insularity of NSHS (your "South Boston," if you will).
As seen in the film, oftentimes, a person has to balance the type of profession to which he/she is drawn with his/her principles and values--those things that he/she considers most important (e.g., money, time, family, personal relationships, impact on others, personal accomplishment). Some might be willing to sacrifice financial security to make a difference in the world, while others might recognize they perform their best when in a competitive environment vying for some external reward.
Even simple things--such as what hours one works or the setting or the frequency and degree to which one will have to work with others can play a role in the decision. For instance, people who like the idea of law enforcement but would never want to work nights or holidays should probably look at another career choice. Someone who dreads public speaking might want to avoid marketing and advertising, where oftentimes representatives will be asked to make presentations for potential and existing clients.
Hence the importance of an accurate self perception (a significant component of emotional intelligence). If people do not accurately gauge themselves--their strengths and weaknesses, their desires and repulsions, their goals and realities--against their potential career choices (for you--areas of study in college), they might be looking at a career change later – when they're locked into a lifestyle by family, monetary, or other considerations.

For my career choice I would like to be a graphic designer. I probably don’t seem like I would be the type for a graphic designer but I am a pretty artistic kid. I am always drawing or doodling in school (not during my classes of course) and I am always drawing graffiti (not on public property, just on paper) and other drawings during my free time. I am not as good a drawer as an artist needs to be so that is why graphic design is perfect because the technology involved evens the playing field and can make great artwork with mediocre skill. In terms of would this being a good job for me I believe so because I feel that work should be doing something that I enjoy and I don’t considered drawing or any of the computer art I do as work. I believe being a graphic designer would be perfect for me because I would be doing what I love to do and expressing myself through computer art.
The career I would like to pursue in the future is to be an environmental scientist. I would like the occupation because I have always liked to work and be outdoors and indoors. I also chose this job because I want to improve the environment in which we live in, and for the animals and plants in which we share with. For me to really be able to like this job I would like a medium size population with in my work place and I would like to work only for one boss. I would like a short commute, about 30 minutes. However I am aware that I would have to drive to some locations to research in the fields and I’m fine with that. I also chose this job because the hours can be in spontaneous and I’m glad with that cause some days I could work 9 hours and on others only 2. All in all, I believe I would be happy with this career choice.
A career that I would like to pursue is Pediatric Neurosurgery. This is perfect for me because I love kids and enjoy biology. Also, long hours would not bother me and all that schooling would not be an issue, as I like a challenge. Additionally, I am most happy when I am helping people and while it would be a very emotionally difficult time, as long as I have family and friends I know I would be able to handle it. I would always be doing something new and would be challenged on a daily basis, something I thrive on. All in all, this career combines all of my passions and provides the emotionally enriching experience I need out of a career.
The potential career in my mind is a medical physician. Constraints and downfalls to this field are undoubtedly long hours as well as high stress due to the possible ramifications of decisions. However, at the same time the benefits are being sure to make a difference, the high salary after preliminary years and, in my case happiness, which is tied to the making a difference. As for how this career matches with me, the two major downfalls of stress and long hours are, to me, acceptable and understandable and the my most significant consideration of difference made is surely met.
My preferred career choice would be a teacher. I would like to work in elementary education because I have a lot of experience working with young children in various camps and sports activities. I want to go into a field where I can help children and work in an environment that is not overly stressful, and can be both fun and entertaining. I think this will be the perfect career choice for me and I plan to study it in college. Becoming a teacher is something that I have always wanted to do and my interest in this career has increased throughout my years of high school with my interaction with specific teachers.
A career path that I am interested in would be one on the more artistic side. While I can’t draw or paint brilliantly, I am a creative person. Photography is a big part of who I am, and being able to use that in my future job would be ideal. I have a few career ideas that I could picture myself pursuing such as a photojournalist, an artistic director for a magazine...something along those lines. I had a past internship taking photographs for a graphic design firm and as a result of that I know that I would be most happy in a creative setting.
I would love to work in the film industry; ideally I would like to be a director of photography or a music video director. Movies are compilations of thousands of photographs and they bring the imagination to life, which never ceases to amaze me. Traveling is not an issue as I would like to the world, and I do not mind long hours as long as I love what I’m doing. It will probably be stressful, as success is determined by opinions, but that is manageable; but happiness is absolutely necessary, as it should be in any workplace. Every day is something new and things that never seemed possible can become reality.
I am undecided as to what specific career path I want to pursue. However, a career field that interests me is engineering. I enjoy the application of math and science to solve complex problems, something that engineers do on a daily basis. Engineering is a broad field that can cover many different areas, from biology to mechanics. Also, this career is very inventive where I can physically create anything like a life-saving vaccine to a more fuel efficient car. Engineering is attractive to me because instead of sitting at a desk all day, it would provide a more active schedule.
A potential career choice for me would be to work in the in major Political news networks like CNN or maybe Fox News. I've always enjoyed watching CNN and listening to the Political discussions. I wouldn't mind being a part of that news agency where I could report on news stories and learn more about politics at the same time. However getting a job with CNN can be quite difficult to obtain and stressful. I couldn’t imagine what I would do or say if I heard about a horrible accident or death to a public official would occur.
A career that I am interested in pursuing is a photojournalist. I have always loved photography and continuing to take pictures is something that I would enjoy doing. While I don’t plan on attending college in an urban environment, it is somewhere I would like to live in the future. I would also enjoy a change in setting and traveling all over the world. Money is not a priority for me but happiness is. I think that if I become a photojournalist I can combine what I love with my everyday job.
The career field I hope to pursue is law, and I want to become a lawyer. My passion for both history and political science has led me to desire a career in this field. Furthermore, my involvement in mock trial has facilitated my decision. Law is challenging, and it is certainly not as glorious as it is portrayed in popular television shows like Law & Order, etc. There is a strong possibility that I will be traveling a lot, and I will most likely be working long hours and on weekends. However, my passion will allow me to make the best out of any situation that arises.
The career field that I’m interested in pursuing is directing for stage and film. The reason why I believe directing would be a good job for me is because, although I love acting, I would like to be more involved in creating the vision of a show and helping guide the actors. Since I’d like to live in New York City, travel wouldn’t be that big of a deal. The setting would be in rehearsal studios at the beginning but then shift to the stage. This would make me very happy and I would enjoy directing as a career.
I’d like to travel around the world and teach English and writing in schools for the kids of American expatriates. On the positive side, this would provide me with incredible opportunities to see the world and write about my experiences. The hours would be regular, it would be fast paced and exciting, and I would most likely work in an urban environment. I’m not sure how the pay would be since I wouldn’t stay at any one school for long, but as long as I can make enough to get by and keep travelling, that isn’t too important; I’m hoping I’ll make real money off the book I eventually write about people all over the world.
The career i would want to have is one that would involve business and accounting. I generally would want the nine to five, go to work in the city in an office and making a decent amount of money. Most people find accounting and finance boring but I am personally strong at math and understanding trends so I wouldn't be ecstatic going to work every day but my job wouldn't bore me at all. I do also though like to travel so any kind of business trips to different cities wouldn't bother me. Personally I am a fan of sports and a perfect career for me would be working in the financial aspects of a major league sports team. But obtaining a job like that is tough so I just want to be able to be an accountant for larger companies.
My potential career would be a lawyer. This career is perfect for me because I love to argue, fight for what’s right, and most of all help people. Law is the perfect fit for me because it involves many of the skills that I have. You need to be organized, enjoy reading, and being able to fight for a person who has not done anything wrong. Unlike a teacher, a lawyer works year round and even sometimes on weekend if working a big case. This is one side of law that I don’t really enjoy because it could be difficult to run a household and to have a steady job at the same but it’s a risk that many lawyer have to take. Being a lawyer has been my dream since I’m little and I plan to pursue no matter what it takes.
I want to be a fiction writer or journalist in the future. I've been writing since the third grade- it's one of my passions and I would love to have it as a career. I wouldn't mind any hours, as long as I'm doing what I love, though, I wouldn't really want to commute over an hour. I'd prefer an urban and indoor environment, i.e. an office or work from home. Happiness is not something necessarily found in the workplace. I think if you're doing what you love to do, it'll make you happy, regardless of the other factors.
I have wanted to become an actress for as long as I can remember. I’ve always felt that it’s expected of me because both of my parents are actors. But just recently I took the advice of a friend of mine who so blatantly suggested I tell everyone to get off my back, and to do what I want to do. I want to teach. I am equally as passionate, if not more so, about working with children as I am about performing, and I can so easily see myself spending my day amongst 18 five-year-olds. My cheeks hurt from smiling, just from writing about it, and that’s what’s important to me; I need to do something that I love in order to be happy.
In the future, I hope to pursue becoming a dermatologist. Becoming a dermatologist is a lot of schooling and residency, however, if that is accomplished, owning my own facility would be my dream. I could make my own hours and appointments and hire few assistants to facilitate the work load. Of course money is important to live and I know this profession will satisfy that. As of now, the only conflict I face becoming a dermatologist is the schooling and work load but if that is accomplished, I hope to own my own office and that would make me happy coming to work everyday.
A career that I have been considering was that of a medical physician. I have always enjoyed math, science and working with others so I believe that this career path suits me well. I'm not too sure what specific field I would like to pursue but whichever path I choose will likely mean long work hours and several years of medical school and training. Despite the obvious stresses that come with being a doctor, the positives such as knowing you're truly making a difference in others' lives, a limited hierarchy and a high salary come together to outweigh those negatives.
In my future the career I plan I choosing is a Law Enforcement officer, or better known as Police Officer, but not just any type of Police Officer, I want to explore all type of law enforcement fields especially the undercover department. I believe this is a great career choice for myself because I am always up for a challenge, and most things that come my way don’t scare me, and I have a very hard outer core. Thinking about where I would like the take on this career would most likely be the city of bright lights the “big apple” NYC or even the other city of big lights Miami only because both of these cities have two of the most interesting lives to live for a police officer and something is always going on. I have family that are all police officer and have done it in the city and the rural areas like North Salem and I could easily have the benefit of both, but for someone like myself, someone who is always running around and always loud and talking and knows how to handle an immediate situation and doesn’t get frantic, or stressed out easily, I think the city is a great new exciting place for me. I also think about Miami when I think about cut backs that NY has done in the public service area, NY is on a hiring freeze until 2011 in the NYPD, and the NY State Police Academy couldn’t afford to have a class the year of 2010. How long could this all go on for? Will that all still be going on when I get out of college? Will there be a job available for me? Connections don’t always work everywhere you go when there’s nothing left. So Miami might benefit me more even though the entire US is doing cut back on the public service community NY is one of the highest. The benefits of the job are worth wonders you get a great retirement policy as early as 47 years of age, and health benefits too, but it all comes at the risk of your life if you want that and I do. I love the high risk and the drama of the life of a cop and catching criminals and putting them away, and helping the community it appeals to me in several different ways hard to explain. The career of being a Law Enforcement officer is one decision that I have made for myself that is sticking with me until the end, and there’s absolutely no way someone would change it.
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always wanted to play professional baseball for the New York Yankees, and I still do today. It’s not the most realistic goal out there, but who’s to say what is realistic. If I had the luck of playing professional baseball, I would wake up every morning knowing I love my job, and I would love to go to work. Traveling is obviously one of the perks of being a professional athlete because you get to compete in different cities and states all the time, and I wouldn’t have a problem with that at all. I would never have to worry about working long hours behind a desk or in an office because it would never seem like I’m working when I’m doing something I love.
Ever since I was a young lad, I have looked up to my father for a variety of reasons; one of which was because of his job. He spent many years of his life working for the global bank known as Citigroup, which got me interested in banking as well. An ideal career for me would be an international investment banker, mainly because I enjoy travelling and consider myself quite an international person due to my travelling at a young age. Salary is important to me, however I would also like to spend time with my future family and not be pulling all-nighters at the office. I felt like the movie didn’t really appeal to me regarding my future choices, however it did reinforce the idea of taking advantage of certain opportunities when one is given the option.
For my career choice I would like to become an entrepreneur. There are many reasons why I want to pursue this field. Although the hours are long, most of the career considerations at to my liking. When starting your own business you have control over many of these considerations. For example, you are able to chose where your business is located, how much you travel, and depending on how successful your business is you can earn a lot of money. One thing that Will, from the movie, taught me is that you have to be happy with the career field in which you pursue. This is another reason I’m interested in this field is because you can build your business around your happiness.
I aspire to have a job that allows me to do something that I feel is important, and not just earn a paycheck. I am considering working in the environmental field. It is difficult to say what job title I would like to have, since it varies so greatly depending on the specific job you are hired for. However, a job as a consultant at pollution cleanup sites, or for a nonprofit organization would be perfect for me. They both have relatively regular hours, but that is not a great concern for me. I do not need a ton of money, which is a good thing since the pay is rather low. However, many jobs in the environmental field involve a lot of office work, and politics, which are not really for me. A job that combines my passion for the environment with science that allows me to be outdoors would be ideal.
I may not be a mathematician or a scientist but I am well on my way to becoming an artist which is why I've decided to chose it as a career. Ever since I was little, art class was the only time that I felt confident in the work I was handing in. I like that the hours are very flexible, and you work at your own pace. Many consider drawing and painting just a hobby but with my strong work ethic it would become a full time job. Most artists work from home but I would have the option of working anywhere I wanted.
My preferred career choice would be an orthodontist. I want to be an orthodontist because I hate when people do not have perfect teeth, so fixing people’s teeth for a living would be a perfect career for me. This career is compatible for me because I love working with all different types of people. Being an orthodontist has it ups and downs. The ups would be that I have good hours, don’t have to travel for business, the salary is huge and I will be around people all the time. The downs are that it takes years of schooling to and it is a very stressful job because I am working on someone’s teeth and I don’t want to mess it up. Also, I would have to work in an office and I might get bored of being in the same place all the time. Even though being an orthodontist has its ups and downs, I think that it the best career for me.
My career choice is, and always has been to become a police officer. What most attracts me to this career is the variety of roles I may take everyday. These can range from comforting someone who lost a loved one to using deadly force to subdue a suspect. Everyday is different and when you start your shift you never know what you will get into that day. This is what will keep me looking forward to coming into work each and every day. Police officers are on duty 24/7 and therefore the hours aren't your standard 9-5. This is not a problem for me as I enjoy varying schedules to avoid a monotonous routine. The downside to this career is the mediocre salary and also the emotional toll that seeing people in distress on a daily basis takes.
A job that I might like to pursue is a booking agent. I have always been interested in the entertainment business, and this career would allow me to work directly with actors, singers, and models by finding them job opportunities. I enjoy working with people, and networking is a big aspect of this job. Booking agents make their living by getting a percentage of their client’s earnings, so my efforts would directly affect my salary. I think one of the biggest mistakes one can make in life is perusing something they are not passionate about; as a booking agent I would have that passion so many are missing.
For my career I plan on being an international photojournalist. I have always wanted to be a journalist and when I began photography I learned more about combining these two activities. My dream would be to work for some international news company such as Reuters. I know the hours are long and I wouldn’t always be working on a set schedule but that wouldn’t keep me from wanting to do this job. Traveling is also a big aspect of this career that I am interested in. I think that I will be happy doing this job and for me that is what’s most important.
When I finally have to make the decision of what I’m going to actually do with my life, there will be many career considerations. I don’t want to have to work a monotonous 9-5 shift, but at the same time I want to have some type of schedule to regulate my day. Making my own hours is where I will steer my career. Commuting to and from work is a hassle any way you look at it. However I do appreciate rural suburban communities. Hopefully I can find a job with the rare perfect medium between the two. I hope to pursue a career in business marketing, if it cannot meet these requirements I may have to weigh my options about what I find is most important. Happiness or money.
The career I want to pursue is a commercial artist. I love the fine arts and could do that on the side, but I know that I would not be able to make a living off of it. I am good at figuring out technology and enjoy working with computers, so graphic design and commercial arts are a perfect fit. A specific part of it that I like is the idea of creating logos, but I am up for anything. I enjoy working with others and this job would call for both independent work and working with others. There would definitely be some stress, working with clients, not being able to figure something out. Overall, I think this is the perfect profession for me.
I aspire to become a chemical engineer with a specialty in paper. I will graduate from college with my bachelors in chemical engineering and I wish to continue schooling to get my masters in business and administration. My goal is to be the manager of a paper company producing environmentally friendly paper products. I wish to pursue a job in this field because I want to help to make a difference in our environment, plus chemical engineering is a career type that I have always been interested in. The ideal commute for me is to take the train into Manhattan or another large city, but still live outside of the city.
My ideal career would be one in the fashion industry. Because I am not as interested in designing, I plan to pursue a career in the business side. As a buyer at a large clothing store, I would have the ability to work around clothing and fashion all day. Working in a positive environment surrounded by many people, each day would be a new experience. Promotions would be fairly easy, as buyers work their way up to a senior position. As a buyer in New York City, I would either walk or take a cab to the store each day. Choosing the products that a store sells while being surrounded by fashion would be the ultimate career for me.
Since I was younger I have always aspired to assist people in need. Studying and becoming a physical therapist would allow me to help people of all ages. This career would fit me very well since I am friendly and like working with people, rather than independently. Becoming a physical therapist would allow me to work in a building close to where I live, since there are many offices around. Although, I am more than content with the pay and work hours, the schooling for physical therapy is longer than I hoped. I do feel that the schooling would be worth it and I would be very happy with this career.
The career that I would like to pursue is biomedical engineering. This field involves a variety of different tasks including designing prosthetics, medical equipment, and medicines. Many professionals in this field either work at hospitals or for private companies. One factor that is very important to time is a short commute to work. This limits possible choices for a place to live, and I would probably need to live in a city or urban location. Another work related factor is number of employees. I want an occupation where I’m constantly interacting with other people not alone in the lab. Engineering often involves working in small groups which is the ideal work environment for me. Some disadvantages to engineering are that the job doesn’t have that flexible of a schedule and that it is uncommon to be one’s own boss.
The career I wish to pursue is an elementary school teacher. I feel this would be the best career choice for me because working with children and helping them grow and learn is something I like to do. I have tutored children with special needs and have worked with many different children. Additionally, I feel happy when I help someone accomplish their goals, so I would love helping children accomplish their goals of learning. The setting and distance from my home isn’t really a personal issue for me, as long as it’s not more then an hour away. Being an elementary school teacher is really something I hope to do, it combines my passions and it will make me happy.
The career I would enjoy pursuing would be Veterinarian Medicine. This career allows me to be around animals all the time and be able to help these animals with their problems. Being a veterinarian would not be much traveling because the office would probably be located near my house since vets are so common, and this would also allow me to be located in any area I would desire. I would enjoy having a good amount of money to be able to support my family, be able to live where I would like, and to live conformably.
In my very near future, i would like to pursue the career of stock trader. I would like this career because it requires intellectual skill, common sense, and when you achieve these you get rewarded with your pay check. Though the job is very stressful, you have the choice of working on your own hours, but the more you work the more money you make. I have always handled stress well and feel that this is no different. I also would like to work in the city; I love New York City, and am fascinated with it. But being a day trader also gives you the opportunity to work from home.
In the furture I hope to pursue a job in enviornmental law. I feel that this would be the best job choice for me because it combines science and a job that utilzies the task of problem solving. I enjoy working with other people and in a fast paced enviornment. Working inside doesnt bother me, at the same time working outside wouldnt bother me. Overall, I feel that one should be happy in their occuptation, it is necessary for success.

I enjoy working with other people and in a fast paced enviornment. Working inside doesnt bother me, at the same time working outside wouldnt bother me. Overall, I feel that one should be happy in their occuptation, it is necessary for success.
For my future career I am undecided in what I would like to do but something that interests me is dentistry. I am thinking about dentistry because all of the work is done during the day so it has good hours, good pay, and distance should not be a problem because there is a dentist office in every town. I enjoy working with people and with such a wide variety of ages should make my time more interesting plus it is always a learning experience because you have to keep up with what is new.
I would love to pursue my dream of being an astronaut. I want to be one because I like to look up into space and gaze at the stars. I also want to be the first person to discover another life form in a distant galaxy far far away. I am hoping that my intellect and good looks will help excel and achieve my long life goal. One small step for Nick and a jump leap for everything else that can move. I hope that no one discovers aliens for awhile so that I will still have the chance to be the first to discover them and the first to befriend them with charm and awesomeness.
For a career I would like to be a sports writer for a magazine or paper. Getting to express my opinions and write about things that are relevant to me (unlike in most times in school) is my passion. When you are a writer for a company you obviously have a boss but you have creative license to do what you wish, which is a freedom I would like to have. The hours can be sparatic if Im doing free lance work and there may need to be nights worked if a piece is due the next day.
The career path I am interested in perusing would have to be something in the business end of the medical career. When thinking of this career, I find myself leaning towards something in administration, sales, or patient advocacy. With working in a hospital or business setting, I would be able to keep a fast pace work day-this being said, the stress level for this typical job is very high. This job would require my time of a typical work day with some work done on the side. As far as money goes, I would greatly appreciate the money I would be making to live a stable lifestyle. Most importantly I would be working with people; interacting all day and doing something I love to help others.
The career I would like to pursue is business. I know it is a general subject, but I don't know what specifically I am interested in yet. The factors that are listed above change for each specific career I may choose in business; a salesman has a very different job than a manager or executive. This is why I am entertaining being an entrepreneur. I don't like to be micromanaged and I take great pride in accomplishing my goals, so I think that if I am running my own business I would be happy. This comes with a lot of responsibility, accountability and risk, but I believe it would be exciting and a good match for me. Everyday employs new activities and things that need to get done, including working with a variety of different people. The hours may be scattered but the pride and satisfaction of having a successful business is priceless.
The career I would enjoy pursuing is athletic trainer. I could do this for a professional baseball team or an athletic facility to help younger athletes prepare for an upcoming season or recover from injury. I would enjoy teaching and training athletes to become better in their particular sports and being part of their success. This is ideal for me because I am interested in nutrition and physical fitness which will make the field of study perfect for what I enjoy studying and doing. I need to continue studying the human body and how to stay fit for different seasons and also the science of body building. This would capture my interest to make work entertaining and satisfactory for me.
It has taken me a while to finally decide on one career, but I have always known that I want to help others with the career I chose. Due to this realization, I have decided to pursue a career in education. I am the type of person who, once they’re used to a schedule, cannot be changed regularly, so the idea of set hours enforced my decision of a career in education. I’m not partial to one particular school district, so moving around wouldn’t be a problem. For me, happiness is essential in the workplace, but I know that working with children to better than will make me happy.
My interests vary in many ways, thus my possible career choices do as well. At the moment my list consists of hair dresser, archeologist, inn keeper, pastry chef, architect, artist, ect. However as of now the career that most interests me is a archeologist. I love to travel and see new places and this career would seem to incorporate that. I love history, museums, historical artwork, and learning the stories behind artifacts. I also enjoy jobs that involve using your hands and being outdoors. Also the different jobs associated with archeology all interest me as well. Pay is not a main factor in my career choice so what ever the pay I still think that archeologist would be a nice match for me.

IM TOO LAZY TO MAKE MY OWN ACCOUNT
Fashion has always been something I have looked at, followed, and enjoyed experiencing since I was just starting middle school. It was always something I admired, and even though everyone says looks don’t matter, I feel like its always a great way to present yourself, and no matter what people say, almost everyone uses a first impression from looks. For some reason I love buying new clothes and and getting very quality, good looking clothing products, but for some reason I cant really see myself designing something new and fashionable that everyone will love. Saying that, it is definitely something I would enjoy trying considering fashion is an everyday part of my life. Designing clothes would be a really fun career because its something I would actually like doing, while getting paid for it. From what ive heard, designing clothes takes a lot of dedication and work to put in, and it can’t just be something one does on the side, that’s why im not sure it would actually be something I would follow through with as a future career. Its also hard to start out designing and be recognized. A lot of people think designing is just drawing up a design, and then making it into a piece of clothing, and make money off of it. In reality its nothing like that, first off you have to make something that people will like, and if you want to be your own boss its going to be even harder because you have to draw it out, then make a rough draft smaller replica of it, find the materials to make the actual product and then find someone who can make it for you. All this money is going to have to come out of your pocket unless you can get a loan which you will have to pay off later, if your product is successful. Submitting ideas to other companies is not too easy either but definitely a lot less stressful than running your own business. You can have other people’s opinion for whether or not it’s a good product, but you’re going to have to spend a lot of hours out of your day in some building putting together multiple different designs to finally get one accepted. Designing clothes is one of my most sought after careers, but there is tons of work that has to be put in, and a mind that is very creative and avoids anything that has already been created.
The Career field that I am interested in is law. I want to be a lawyer because I feel that I have a suited personality for the job and I’ve been told I’d be a good lawyer. I like to talk a lot and argue. And I have no problem talking in front of an audience. I want to work indoors in an office and I hope to have my own law firm as my experience progresses. Lawyers, depending on how good of a lawyer you are, make a very good amount of money and that is a key factor. I understand the sacrifices I’d have to make for law school and the amount of work it is to become a lawyer, but in the long run it will be completely worth it for me.
As I grew up I always considered a few different career choices, each of them vastly different from the others. The three choices that I was considering the most were Graphic designer, specifically video game design, engineering, I have yet to decide which type, and being an orthodontist. Each job type has many perks, and also many down sides. If I were to go into the field of video game design, I would be doing something I love, with decent hours, but on the downside, the job starts out with a low pay and you need to work your way up. If I were to be an engineer, the job would be harder, with longer hours, doing something I enjoy, but not as much as design, with a higher pay. And being an orthodontist after the schooling and residency is over the pay is much higher then the other two, with an easier job, but something I enjoy much less. As I grow up and go through college I will have to make a decision on which job I wish to pursue
The career choice that i have always believed would fit me best would be an event planner; more specifically a wedding planner. There are many different reasons that make me want to pursue this career field. One reason is that I enjoy the happiness and all of the festivities of weddings, and I believe that my creativity and passion would be great for this job. As a wedding planner i work out my own hours with my clients, and don’t have a set 9-5 job. Also a very important part of the career for me is being able to work with clients and really get to know them while doing what I love.
For my career choice I would like to be in control of finances for a big company. This is my ideal job because I have been very interested in pursuing a career that involves math because that is my favorite school subject. My ideal world would be to work in New York City and live both in the city, and have another place in a suburban area. Although working for a big company puts a lot of stress on my job because if I do something incorrectly our business would lose a lot of money, I would make good money doing my job and think that I would do fine.
The career field that I plan on pursuing is business/finance. I would enjoy working as an accountant/financial adviser for a large company, and someday to be promoted to a higher position in the firm. The day would run from 9-5 and I would be working in the city. My preference would be working in an office setting, with a medium size workforce. I would like to start out with a low paced job and as I gain experience move up toward the larger companies. I feel that I would enjoy this field because I am both interested and smart when it comes to numbers and math. Ultimately, I want a job that pays well, gives me a sufficient amount of free time and one that is low on stress.
Ever since a few years ago I’ve always wanted to work for a small record label. I have always been interested in music and I’ve always spent hours on the computer downloading new music and discovering small, underground bands. I have always been against large record labels and have never liked the way that they behave and treat the artists. My ideal job would be scouting bands to sign for a small record label. I wouldn’t mind the hours that this job would give me (a lot would be at night since concerts are at night) since I will still be young. Ideally, I will quit once I’m ready to raise a family so I can be a full-time mother. The amount of money that I earn will not matter to me because I know that I will be happy working with a small label with a small group of people compared to larger labels. Since I wish to work in a small label, the stress would be lower than it would be for a larger label. The job would most likely be in the city, which would be perfect for me since that is where I want to live before I’m ready to start a family. I can definitely picture myself very happy with this job.
The career i hope to pursue is sports broadcasting. I would love to be a broadcaster for any sports teams it would not matter which sport i love all of them form football to golf i would love it. If I could broadcast for a team i would want to be an anchor or analyst on ESPN. The reason for this is because I love sports and can talk sports all day with anyone about any sport and i would never get bored. To me sports is never boring and it is always fun to talk about especially because i know so much more than other kids so I'm always right about what we talk about. This job would be perfect for me because I would be doing what I love and what I do everyday talk about sports.
I would like to pursue a career in public health. This field suits me because I have always been interested in concerns of the community, human rights, and health issues around the world. However, I don't like all the science and schooling that comes with becoming a doctor. I will have the option of getting involved internationally, or sitting in an office. I like the fact that the job would be ever changing, as issues change with time. While it doesn’t provide a great salary, this career would give me happiness as it combines my passion for health and the social sciences.
I grew up wishing to pursue a dance career but now that I have actually sat down and looked at my future, I could not bear to put myself through the torture. So evidently I decided to steer away from that field. I am not positive what I would "like to be when I'm all grown up" but based on my skills I think I have a pretty good idea. I think I want to be an elementary school teacher. Being a successful teacher requires patience, enthusiasm and responsibility; all of which I developed through work and life experiences. Over the past few years I have been presented with job opportunities and community service where I have been put in a position to help kids succeed in their goals, whether these were to learn how to spell their names, to swim those short three feet without any support or to finally hit that tennis ball over the net that was just as tall as they are. Watching kids grow up and knowing that I had an impact on something they will do for the rest of their life is so rewarding and it is something I want to feel everyday of my life.
As of right now I am unsure about what career I wish to have in the future. I am interested in many different subjects and have many different goals for myself in the working world. One aspiration, which I believe I would enjoy, is that of an elementary school teacher. After babysitting for years and working all summer last year at a children’s day camp I see how much I love working with young children. I love the responsibility as well as the fun I have when working with kids. This is why I can definitely see myself as an elementary school teacher.
I am currently undecided on what I wish to do with my life. Law enforcement sounds like fun, but so does teaching, cooking and fixing cars. I hope to use the options program to help me narrow down my search for a career path. Anyway, if I had to pick a field it would probably be law enforcement. An FBI agent seems like something I could do well, so I pick that as my carreer choice.
My dream has been to own my own shop and continue family's business. Both my father and my aunt are entreprenuers, I've always admired their dedication. If my business is successful (staying alive and thriving- keeping my father’s business ethics and my aunt’s ideas in play), I think it would give me great pride and happiness in my life. The factor that does not appeal to me is the time that I'd have to put in- I believe that there should be time allotted to your personal life. However, this movie has made me realize that if you love what you do, it's not considered work.
Although I am unsure of what career I would like to pursue in the future, I believe it would have to do with the communications field. The reason I would like to pursue this type of career is because I enjoy being involved in some things that entertain others, such as movies, television shows, and gossip. I would love to work with people and the hours don't really matter to me as long as I enjoy what I'm doing. An internship with someone involved in a career like that would really be an ideal choice for me.
When I grow up I want to be in some sort of business where I can work with people and express myself creatively. I would like to start low and work my way up the ranks in order to be a boss and make my own hours. An office in a suburban area would be nice so I don’t have to deal with all the annoyances of the city and the amount of money I make would only have to be enough to comfortably provide for a family.
A career choice that I would like to pursue in the future is musical theatre. I realize this is a difficult field so of course I have back ups that I would love to pursue as well. I enjoy working with other people and bouncing ideas off of each other. Happiness is key when working. No one wants to spend a third of their life wishing they could have done something different. Hopefully I won’t have to travel a very long distance to get to work because that would affect my happiness. A problem with this career choice is not having a lot of time for oneself. If you even get a job in this field you are working almost every day. I feel I would be happiest if I at least tried to pursue this profession so I can learn more about it.
A career path that I would like to pursue would have to be something in finance. Dealing with stocks and bonds is something that really interests me. Ever since I was little I always loved dealing with money. For me dealing with high pressure situations is something I like to be apart of because it only makes you stronger as a person. Investing money at a high risk is something i would love to do because if I'm making money I know its because of my hard work and if I'm losing money its because of my lack of work. Working directly with money would always keep me motivated simply for my desire to make as much as i possibly can.
A field I would like to pursue is Technical management, combining ability in science and math with the ability to lead others. The settings that the field contain vary from very small tec startups that are highly stressful and have long hours but are very lucrative to large companies with 9-5 hours and steady pay and low stress. Either of these would be great jobs with great rewards. There are also many sub areas covering most every product known to man. The main thing is to be working with others to build something interesting and worthwhile
A career I would like to pursue is journalism. I would like to write different articles for magazines or newspapers. I choose this because I always enjoy reading my favorite magazines because the topics that the writers publish appeal to most teens or adults. This job might come with some stress such as publishing deadlines, but I am prepared to work hard, and hopefully will be happy doing this.
The career I would like to pursue when I'm older is sports broadcasting. I would accept a variety of different types of broadcasting experiences, from the radio to television to play by play to talk shows. To some I may seem as one who does not voice their opinions a lot, but when I am truly passionate about something that is not the case. Becoming a broadcaster or a host is not a particularly easy path, one year you may be working on the radio in the early mornings from 1am to 5am while the next year, if successful enough, you may be working on the radio during rush hours. An area which makes broadcasting sometimes difficult for some is the traveling to different events. However, this would not be a problem for me because ever since I was younger I have wanted to be in different places in the sporting world.
Although my career choice is undecided, i always believed that dentistry was a good career to pursue. I feel that i would enjoy this career because i love being around people and being social This is a career in which anyone can be "their own boss." Basically this means that the work hours are chosen by the dentist and he can play his own hours ahead so that he can place appointments around his or her own schedule. The commute hopefully wont be a big issue as i would ensure that my workplace is within 30 minutes from my home. Although this is not a career that i am positive to commit to, it is certainly a career i have given thought to and may ant to learn more about in the future.
The Career I would like to pursue in the near future is a high school history teacher. The reason behind this choice has a lot to do with the fact that I've always enjoyed history and I've always excelled in the class. Recently I was unaware of my future aspirations but I have grown fond of teaching and helping my friends out when need be on said topic.
Now, onto the job itself. I've always seen myself completing college and returning to North Salem High School to teach U.S History. I enjoy the suburban setting with easy travel to my job, no longer than 30 minutes away. Another thing that I have always liked about being a teacher is the days off, such as snow days, holidays and summer. Another perk to being a teacher is the benefits and pension. All in all I would be content with being a teacher as my career.
